Dr Nitya Nirody shares externship experience in the UK

As a small animal practitioner from Mumbai, India, I have always been passionate about diagnostic imaging, particularly ultrasonography. Through Dr Nicolette and Vet-EO, I was fortunate to connect with Specialist imaging centres in the UK for a visiting externship.

Thanks to the support of Dr Nic, Dr Dawn and Dr Laura, my visit was thoughtfully planned and incredibly rewarding. I spent my time observing the daily workflow of expert imaging teams, gaining insight into CT and MRI assessments, reporting processes, ultrasonography techniques and imaging-guided sampling. It was an exciting and educational experience into view clinical practices from a different perspective. I also got the opportunity to join the team for journal and book clubs, and clinical rounds which enriched my understanding further.

One of the highlights of my visit was spending a day with the exceptional cardiology team led by Dr Virginia Luis Fuentes at RVC, in addition to a week with the wonderful imaging team of Dr Francisco Llabres Diaz and Drs Carly, Andrea, Cesar and Colleen.

Beyond the clinics, exploring places like Bath, Cheddar and finally fulfilling a dream by visiting the World of James Herriot in Yorkshire made the trip truly special.

This experience has been both professionally inspiring and personally unforgettable. I'm deeply grateful to everyone who made it possible.
